About meI am originally from Oak Forest, Illinois, but I came to Grand Rapids, Michigan to study Elementary Education. I am currently a Junior at Calvin college and am loving every minute of it. I hope to teach in the lower Elementary grade levels, but am open to students of all ages. It is my hope that, through this website, my growth in the past three years in teaching and in perspective will be made evident.

My Story
MY HISTORYWhile I went to Christian private schools for my entire K-college education, I have had many opportunities to gain experience with public and charter schools. In my Education 202 class, I spent about 15 hours observing and tutoring a charter school elementary classroom. Also, in my Education 302 class, I spent over 2 months teacher aiding in a public school elementary classroom.

MY DREAMS I cannot wait to have my own classroom and start teaching. It is my dream to create a learning environment where students are shaped and developed as whole persons. My student learning objectives will be more than just building students cognitively; they will focus on social, physcomotor, and socioemotional skills as well. It is my goal to shape the whole student, not just that part that passes the test. This is my wish for my classroom.

MY INFLUENCESAs a child, I knew early on what it was like to be a teacher. Both my parents are teachers, one in elementary and one in special ed. Growing up, I spent many hours in the classroom while my parents planned lessons or tutored students. Seeing my parents teach is what inspired me to teach. I wanted to change the lives of children and I wanted to help them grow.
